4 days ago House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. released the astonishing fact that he has backed off his plan to investigate purported wrongdoing by ACORN saying " the powers to be " squashed the investigation.
Mere hours later City Council member Monica Conyers, the wife of powerful Democratic Rep. John Conyers, pleaded guilty Friday to accepting cash bribes in exchange for supporting a sludge contract with a Houston company.Monica Conyers plead guilty one count of conspiracy to commit bribery in connection with accepting two payments from a Synagro Technologies official in late 2007, including one in a McDonald's parking lot.
Conyers is facing three to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. She will be sentenced in 90 days.
Anyone care to bet she gets a mere slap on the hand ? "Quid Pro Quo" anyone ?
